About the Designer: Alexia L Mccartney

Jewelry and Gemstones have always fascinated me ever since the day I first stumbled upon my Mother's jewelry collection. From that day I have always had a connection to gems. I believe pieces hold emotion and history and they often tell a story, one to be cherished and later passed down to loved ones. Designing and creating a piece of jewelry is to create something that will one day hold immense sentiment.

Growing up in Manhattan, NY, one of the jewelry capitals of the world, I was always surrounded by jewelry in one way or another. Whether it was my Mother's jewelry box or the numerous jewelry stores I went into with my Mother growing up, I feel jewelry was always present. Having grown up in a Franco-American family, I moved to my Mother's hometown in the South of France at the age of ten where I would later find inspiration for some of my designs. At 17 years old, I moved to London which is where my path to becoming a jewelry designer began. 

My early twenties was when I decided to finally turn my passion into something I could share with people who have the the same love and appreciation for jewels. My journey began at the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) Campus in London when I started my course in Jewelry Design. Since my first day of class, I have known that jewelry was what I was meant to pursue. After obtaining my Design Diploma, I continued at GIA and obtained my AJP (Accredited Jewelry Professional) Certification and later obtained my GIA Certified Diamond Grading Diploma.

I find inspiration in my memories and all that surrounds me: art, architecture, fashion, nature, the world. I am dedicated and thrive to design and create beautiful, unique and durable fine jewelry for all to wear and cherish. I and have created ALM Fine Jewelry so I can share and provide my customers with pieces that will hopefully become staples of their jewelry collections.
